Inland Pacific Ballet Academy presents:

The 2011 Spring Recital

"Sleeping Beauty"

Much of our choreography will remain true to Marius Petipa's original, which had it's premiere in 1890 with Russia's Imperial Ballet and the music of
Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky.

ACT I Aurora's Birthday

Guests assemble for the Birthday celebration of Princess Aurora. Although the guest list has been carefully checked, the wicked fairy, Carabosse, has been forgotten. Angry at this slight, Carabosse casts a spell on Princess Aurora: she will prick her finger and die. The Lilac Fairy is able to change the spell: Aurora will prick her finger, but she will not die. She will fall asleep and be wakened by the kiss of a handsome prince. Carabosse is chased from the party, and the festivities continue. Carabosse appears later, disguised as an old woman, and gives Aurora a spindle. Happily dancing with her new gift, Aurora pricks her finger and collapses. The Lilac Fairy reminds all the court that Aurora will not die. The Lullaby Fairies dance Aurora a lullaby while she awaits the Prince, who, guided by the Lilac Fairy, finds Aurora asleep and wakes her with a kiss.

ACT II Aurora's Wedding

The court is assembled for the wedding of Princess Aurora and Prince Desiree. Each of the royal guests dances in honor of the wedding, and Aurora and her Prince dance a Pas de Deux to celebrate their love. Finally, the entire court gathers to witness the Lilac Fairy bestow her blessing on the royal couple. And they all live happily ever after.

Thanks For Coming!
It was wonderful to have all of You there!

Presented annually by Inland Pacific Ballet Academy, the Spring Recital
is a performance of a classic story ballet performed entirely by students.
Adaptations of classics such as Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, and Coppelia, are fully staged with beautiful scenery and costumes, and are presented at the magnificent Bridges Auditorium in Claremont where the IPB professional company is Company in Residence. All of the Levels in the Academy participate - from 3 year old Pre-Ballet students through the upper division's most advanced Level 7 dancers. Everyone in the school is eligible to be a part of this delightful event which often includes upwards of 150 dancers. Many audience members enjoy attending each year to watch young talent develop and grow through the Academy ranks. The majority of Inland Pacific Ballet's professional Company Dancers grew up through the Academy and gained valuable performing experience dancing in the Academy Recitals where dancers can cut their teeth on roles which groom them for the challenges they will face as professionals. There are many "firsts" for the students each year - it can be their first time on stage, first time wearing a Tutu, first time performing on pointe, dancing a solo or dancing a principal role. Mostly it is a joyful celebration of all of the hard work and dedication the students - and families - have accomplished throughout the year and a chance for the Academy students to shine and share their art with family, friends and the community.
